MEET DOUg marshall
Welcome to The World of Doug
By trade I’m a writer, motivational speaker, social media brand consultant and content creator. I’m a connector, an influencer and a trusted source. I have a passion for style, skin care, grooming and what I like to call self-care (exercise/meditation/mindfulness).
Social Media
I have been perfecting the art of social media for 10 years in fashion/beauty/lifestyle, for myself and on behalf of big brands. I launched all of Saks Fifth Avenue’s social media in 2009. Since then, I have worked with many recognized brands; either launching their social presence, giving it new life from a content and strategy perspective or doing branded street style videos and Snapchat/Instagram takeovers at events. Some clients include: Aveda, ED by Ellen DeGeneres, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bond No. 9 Fragrances, Macy*s, Lord & Taylor, Joe Fresh, Rachel Zoe's DreamDry and Bandier. I've written fashion blogs for Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Joe Fresh.
Journalism
For the last 12 years, I’ve also worked as an on-camera reporter and print journalist in various capacities. I contribute to Fox9’s The Jason Show doing lifestyle segments. I have covered press junkets via video for Time Warner On-Demand + PlumTV and Vogue Italia (covering the Met Costume Gala). I was the top freelance reporter on the red carpet for the New York Daily News for over 5 years. Between video and print, I have interviewed many celebrities including Madonna, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Obama, Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lopez and yes, Kim Kardashian (and Kanye before they were an item).
In addition to writing my blog theworldofdoug.com, I also contribute to MSP Magazine, Artful Living Magazine, Bravo.com and The Hollywood Reporter. I have personally been featured in The Star Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Hamptons Magazine, Gotham Magazine, Fashion Week Daily, Manhattan Magazine, WWD and Fox News.
MINDFULNESS COACHING
10 years ago I began dabbling in self-help and fell in love with it because it really worked for me. I started writing about my experiences and successes with self-help practices in a very real and transparent way on theworldofdoug. The more I learned tools for coping with anxiety and stress and wrote about them, more people wanted to know about them. After a few years my life's path took a very interesting turn - I started getting asked to give motivational speeches on self-care, stress and anxiety. This led to me designing workshops and small group coaching sessions to empower individuals and businesses to grow and prosper through self-reflective work. I break down meditation and self-help tools into easily approachable ways for people to try them out. I remove barriers to entry like “I don’t have time” or “it’s hard”. Most tools take 30 seconds to 3 minutes to raise your energy and shift your mindset! I’ve been speaking and teaching these topics for the last 5 years and demand continues to grow. People want to feel good, be present and enjoy life more. I help them with that.
