Make a GOOD MOOD BOARD to feel happy and create GOOD ENERGY!
Last week was my first week at Art Buddies as a Mentor at Whittier Elementary School - a 10 week after school program working with kids to make art. A few days after meeting my buddy for the first time, school got suspended to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Art Buddies quickly came up with a workaround because most of us are homebound and need more creative outlets, especially if you have kids. Art Buddies asked me to make a "5 Minute Fun" video, as part of their efforts to keep the Art Buddies kids inspired and engaged. My activity is creating a GOOD MOOD BOARD and it’s as good for adults as it is for kids!
I’ve been working on a Vision Board lately to manifest all the amazing things I want to attract into my life. The key to manifesting (other than putting out intentions of what you want to receive) is feeling good and being grateful for what you have RIGHT NOW. Attracting the things you desire depends on how good you feel today. Feeling good turns up your energy to receive - it’s gratitude in action. However, as the world sinks into their couches as the Coronavirus spreads, it might feel harder to feel good due to Social Distancing or Shelter in Place orders. There’s more breaking news and emergency alerts than ever, we’re getting less fresh air and moving less. One way to shift that energy is to create a GOOD MOOD BOARD. It's similar to a vision board, but it's more about showing things that put you in a good mood so you can feel good NOW.
Here's how you do it (or skip to video below):
1. Grab a poster board or piece of paper and some magazines or coloring books. You can also include pictures of friends and family (or you can print things out if you have a printer).
2. Cut out words/images from magazines, add photos or drawings - tape or glue them on to a piece of paper or your board.
3. Then share with the people you are with or via video chat and tell them what puts you in a good mood!
4. Hang it in a place where you see it every day to help you focus on the things that bring you joy.
5. When life begins to return to a somewhat normal pace, you will appreciate your GOOD MOOD BOARD even more, because it will remind you of a time where you wanted to get creative to get out of your head. And you actually had time to do it.
If you make a GOOD MOOD BOARD, share on social and tag @theworldofdoug on Instagram and @ArtBuddies. I’ll pull together a gallery of other people’s GOOD MOOD BOARDS and share below! If you like this post + video, share with people who might enjoy making a GOOD MOOD BOARD!
